Best Books For Toddlers Review
But Not the Hippopotamus is a well-known, brilliantly illustrated, enjoyable, and classic book for babies and toddler. It is a simple, yet wonderful story, which revolves around the phrase “but not the hippopotamus”. As the story progresses the anticipation is building up, and at the very end, Hippopotamus is finally invited to join the other animals. The story ends in the most joyful possible way. It cracks me up every time we read it to our son. Also, the end of this story is perhaps the beginning of a new one as “but not the hippopotamus” is replaced with “but not the armadillo”. This delightful book for babies and toddlers sold more than two million copies worldwide, which speaks volume about its popularity.

The book is a series of cute short sayings and simple animations, where each animal produces a certain sound. However, there is an error at the very end of the book, which is meant to be corrected by the little ones. The very last page of this book is meant to be whispered, which is by the way, Bean’s favorite part of the book.
